Morison Drive looking along pale brick houses, eucalypts and a cracked footpath

Lurnea NSW 2170

The footpath cracks first. Then you see the cream brick.

16 Morison Dr

You arrive on the verge, not through a painted hotel car park.

Two storeys of cream brick, a metal screen, a wheelie bin on the drive. The gum on the nature strip hides a corner of the upper windows. If you’re coming off Hoxton Park Road, it’s a short turn into a residential street — letterboxes, fences, cars nosed in.

We don’t mark bays with our name. Park along the street the way the neighbours do. For a room, call +61 2 9730 6426. If it rings out, wait a minute: someone is often on the stairs with linen.

Overcast western-Sydney light. One upstairs pane blows out. That’s the face of 16.

The screen door is the front. The mat sits a little off-square.

Two concrete steps, diamond mesh, cream brick pillars. We don’t run a shuttle into town. We point you at the street and that’s the help.

Inside

A sofa that sags on one cushion. A charging cable on the side table. Through the sash you still see the street roof tiles. Western Sydney light is often flat; that’s what comes into the rooms.
